Believe

During the last week of the Café programme those who attended were invited to share their reactions to what they had discovered during the course. This is what one of the young Dads chose to share:

“ I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with like-minded people to praise, sing, study and share the word of God. I would like to thank all those who have lovingly organised this course. May God richly bless them. Having attended a Café programme two years ago I would also like to share my joy at having shared our evenings with our Father Gregory and, of course, with all the others there. I pray that we may grow in numbers alongside our dear Lord Jesus Christ and benefit with him, through him and in him.

For myself I found help in overcoming my everyday struggles by focusing on God’s word of comfort – I know he is our rock on which we build. Disasters, wars, atrocities, injustices, persecutions, evils of many kinds, and so much suffering abound our world. Without the word of God, without his direction, without his son, it seems there would be no hope or concrete foundation to stand upon.

God’s word and his work stands forever. He works in a wonderful but mysterious way and changes people’s lives in ways that are so personal and original. When God intervenes in someone’s life either by responding to a prayer or saving them from say death, rescue them from poverty, that person will surely know it was God who put right what no-one else could. God has endless ways and reasons for why, where and when he should act. It does not matter to him whether we are young or old, weak or strong, white or black, ugly or beautiful! It is what’s in our hearts that matter and what our real intentions are. Not how we look on the outside or what we say and then fail to do.

Here are some scriptures that have stayed with me:

Jeremiah 31:16
“Restrain your eyes from weeping and from tears for your work will be rewarded, declares the Lord.”

Peter 3:11:12
“Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer.”

Psalm 27:14
“Wait for the Lord, be strong, take heart and wait for God.”

I would like to end on a prayer for all of us:
“Dear Lord Jesus, on behalf of all of us here I pray that you will always be within our hearts, encouraging us, guiding us, sustaining us, comforting us and teaching us. We thank you, Almightly God for all you do for so many. Amen”
