HELPING OUT

Want to get more involved, or do some voluntary work in the parish? This section gives details of all the ways you can get involved, and how you can help your fellow parishioners. MARRIAGE CARE CROYDON
To meet increasing demand for our Marriage Preparation courses, Marriage Care Croydon urgently needs to recruit more volunteers to train as providers to run 3 or 4 courses a year. No previous experience is required as all training would be provided.

CROYDON COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES
are looking to recruit Community Nurses. They provide adult nursing and therapy services in the community from health centres, GP Practices, or in the patient’s own home.They also provide intermediate care services to facilitate early discharge from hospital and services that help prevent patients from going into hospital. The children’s service is committed to improving the health of families, children and young people from pregnancy until 19 years of age.With teams of health visitors, school nurses, staff nurses, nursery nurses, health advocates and assistants, they work from community bases delivering services at 19 children’s centres, 152 mainstream and special schools and GP Surgeries across the large and diverse area of Croydon. ALL CHURCH CLEANERS

SILVER CLEANING ROTA
Additional helpers are needed for the rota to clean the silver chalices used for Holy Mass. This takes about 30 minutes. If anyone would like to help in this important task, please ring Una Barrie on 020 8668 1936

The 2nd Purley and Kenley Rainbow Unit
are looking for some permanent help. The Unit needs three adult helpers – it has three at present but one will have to stand down before Christmas for personal reasons. If you are available on Monday afternoons (term time only) and would welcome the opportunity to create a positive memory and promote teamwork within the Girl Guiding movement, please contact June Haynes on 020 8668 6566.

READERS’ ROTA
The new rota is ready for collection in the Sacristy. Please collect your copy promptly as the rota starts this week. There are still some vacancies for Christmas readers. If you wish to read at any of the Masses please contact Dilys on 8660 0624.

PARISH VOCATIONS TEAM
We are starting a Parish Vocations Team to promote vocations in the Parish. If you are interested in joining or finding out more, please call Anthony Dooley on 07908 524725.

NEW PARISH YOUTH LEADERS
are required to join our committed and enthusiastic Youth Ministry Team. We need people to assist with the development of the pre-confirmation Youth CaFé Programme which takes place on Sunday evenings during school term time. If you think you may be able to get involved please phone, write or email the Parish Office as soon as possible. You will be joining a supportive team of adults who wish to encourage challenge and stimulate our young people to engage in faith related matters and deepen their faith. Our young people need you!

VISITING SCHEME
The SVP are seeking to set up a support visiting scheme for one of our housebound lady Parishioners. If you feel able to help please leave your name and a contact number at the Parish Office.

Have you just moved from work to retirement? Have children moving on in their lives, giving you more spare time? Have you discovered hidden talents? St John the Baptist Parish can always do with more people in the large team that looks after the parish. You don’t have to join a rota! There are jobs that you could do as it suits you. For instance, we could do with a handyman/woman. Ring Liz at the Parish Office Mon-Fri 09.00-15.00.

School Pastors
School Pastors are men and women who have some time to spare in the afternoons and who are concerned about the town centre and school students getting home safely. For more information contact Pam Bryan on 8668 0422

Adult Youth Leaders
To assist with Parish Youth Ministry. We need more helpers if we are to continue to provide a good programme of activities to nurture our young people in the Faith. Please see Fr Brendan if you think you may be able to help.
