The new readers’ rota is be ready for collection this weekend, 24/25 July. Please make sure you collect your copy as soon as possible as the rota begins on 31 July. If you are going away, remember to collect your rota as soon as you return. I shall not be around much in the next two months (Mayday permitting) so the onus is on you. MASSES AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST
There is not a long waiting list of Mass Intentions at present. The Masses are all booked on a first come
first served basis but there are quite a few Masses at present with no specific intention. Should you wish to book a Mass please complete one of the envelopes from the shelf at the back of the church. If you wish to have a Mass card there are some in the Sacristy or you can get them from Liz at the Presbytery (Monday-Friday 09.00-15.00).
PAPAL VISIT
There is to be a Youth Event for the Papal Visit on Saturday 18 September. Croydon Deanery is forming a Group led by GemmaWildsmith, consisting of a representative from each Parish. If you are interested and are aged between 16 and 20 please give your name to Canon Jim. If more than one name comes forward we will put the names in a hat.
COLOMA CONVENT GIRLS’ SCHOOL
are looking for a part-time teacher of Italian (equivalent of 1 day per week) to cover for Maternity leave from September. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Italian for Beginners to a small group of Yr 12 students as part of the International Baccalaureate course. CONSIDERING YOUR VOCATION? – INVOCATION 2010
Do you need space to consider what God wants you to do with your life? Are you intrigued by the possibility of priesthood or religious life? Would you like the chance to find out more? If the answer is YES to any of these questions, Invocation 2010 could be just the thing for you! It is our first ever National Vocations Discernment weekend and it will take place at St.Mary’s College, Oscott – where the Pope will stay when he comes to England. The weekend will begin on the evening of Friday 2 July and end with a special Mass celebrated by Archbishop Vincent Nichols on Sunday 4 July. Guest speakers will include Abbot Christopher Jamison and Sr. Gabriel Davison. Although it’s not a recruitment weekend there will be lots of priests and religious present as well as inspiring talks and enlightening workshops. There will be Perpetual Adoration in the Seminary Chapel throughout the weekend. There will also be a giant screen TV to make sure you don’t have to miss the football! You can find out more and book online, at the Invocation website www.invocation.org.uk There is a charge for the weekend – but many Parishes are subsidising young people who would like to attend. To meet increasing demand for our Marriage Preparation courses, Marriage Care Croydon urgently needs to recruit more volunteers to train as providers to run 3 or 4 courses a year. No previous experience is required as all training would be provided.

SILVER CLEANING ROTA

NEW PARISH YOUTH LEADERS
are required to join our committed and enthusiastic Youth Ministry Team. We need people to assist with the development of the pre-confirmation Youth CaFé Programme which takes place on Sunday evenings during school term time. If you think you may be able to get involved please phone, write or email the Parish Office as soon as possible. You will be joining a supportive team of adults who wish to encourage challenge and stimulate our young people to engage in faith related matters and deepen their faith. Our young people need you!
VISITING SCHEME
The SVP are seeking to set up a support visiting scheme for one of our housebound lady Parishioners. If you feel able to help please leave your name and a contact number at the Parish Office.

St John the Baptist Parish can always do with more people in the large team that looks after the parish. You don’t have to join a rota! There are jobs that you could do as it suits you. School Pastors
