Care of the Sick

Anointing_ofthe_SickHoly Communion

If you are unable to attend Mass, you should let the Parish Office know so that arrangements can be made for one of the clergy or an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion to visit your house and bring you Holy Communion.

A visit will involve a short service that includes the Liturgy of the Word and the Rite of Communion.

If a relative is going into a care home, let the Parish Office know and they will be included when the minister goes to that home. If you or a relative are going into hospital, let the hospital chaplaincy know that you are Roman Catholic and would like to receive Holy Communion while in hospital.

Anointing of the Sick (Last Rites)

The sacrament of anointing is the proper sacrament for those Christians whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age. If a relative is seriously ill, you may want to have them anointed by a priest. To do this, ring the Parish Office. If the need is urgent and you cannot get an answer at the Parish Office, try one of the surrounding parishes.
